The club recently completed a trip to St Abbs, diving the Voluntary Marine Reserve, once again aboard the Pathfinder, skippered by Paul O’Callaghan
The club stayed at Scoutscroft leisure park in a series of “glamping” pods, which was 5 minutes drive from St Abbs Harbour.
The first day was ropes off at 08:30, with the dive #1 being Wuddy Swim Through, with a treat of a dolphin pod being sighted on the way to the dive site! After a brief surface interval, including some tremendous ginger surprise cake (!), the skipper took us to White Heugh for dive #2
After getting back into the harbour, the group went back to the campsite for some R&R before heading out into Coldingham for an evening meal at The New Inn.
Day 2 was also an 08:30 ropes off and onto Black Carrs for dive #1, a surface interval with yet more ginger surprise, and skipper Paul treated us by following some dolphins for a bit.
This took us to our dive #2 of Ebb Carrs, location of the Vigilant and Alfred Earlandsen wrecks. Nice relaxing dives to finish, then back to St Abbs harbour to offload, stop for a quick bite at Ebb Carrs cafe (highly recommend the haggis and cheese panini!) and the back down to West Yorkshire.
A very successful and enjoyable trip was had by all, and many thanks to club member Paul Woolston for organising.
